31 Days of Fall Fun {Day 20}: Setting a Fall Table

Martha Stewart

Start with a neutral backdrop, whether it be as simple as pretty place mats or as elegant as a beautiful silk runner. Keeping it neutral, however, will help the other elements of the table to shine. If it has a hint of texture though, all the better.

Next add in your dinnerware. I don't think you can ever go wrong with white.

The next layer is candles. Keep it all one color and shape for a more modern, uncluttered look or vary the heights for a romantic glow.

Finally, look to nature for decorative elements. Leaves, branches, fruits, gourds, and berries are all easy to find in abundance during the Fall. The most beautiful, festive tables can most often be adorned just by looking in one's own backyard.
