DIY Mini Envelope Advent Calendar

Is it too late to share a diy advent calendar? I hope not. :)

For all of you last-minute-type people like myself, this project comes together quickly using supplies you probably already have laying around — wrapping paper, card stock, and some tape.

I used wrapping paper to make mini envelopes because I have a lot of it on hand and it goes with the rest of my Christmas decor.

Making the envelopes is like the easiest origami ever.

How to quickly make an envelope:

  1. Start with a square and fold one corner to the middle.
  2. Fold the opposite corner to the middle.
  3. Fold the bottom corner a little past the middle.
  4. Tape or glue the bottom flap to the sides.
  5. Fold the top just past the center.

I used 6" squares cut from silver wrapping paper. I am displaying them with numbered tags pinned to a gold frame fitted with chicken wire, but you could display them on a wall or in a pretty basket too.

If you would like to download and print my numbered tags, you can find them here:

I filled the envelopes with small pieces of paper with a Christmas activity written on it, like "drive around to see all the lights" or "make fudge."

  1. What an utterly sweet project. Pinning so I remember it this time next year. Thanks!
